Like, how much can pixels change and not look different to the human eye. Basically, how many images exist of say, that moon photo I saw on the forum a while back, that would all look exactly the same to the human eye. One pixel is a different shade of color, two pixels, 3 pixels, and all of the different values they can be without effecting how we saw it. And then add in some minor changes that could be detected such as slightly different shape of the moon, slightly different colors, spots, stains, even put thumbtacks in the corners, 1 corner, 2 corners, add tears like it looks like a poster, add a fly on it, add a fly in every single location the fly can be, in all of the different positions his wing can be, but that moon would still be recognizable to a person.
I’m not great with numbers, but trillions upon trillions (its gotta be higher than that, right?) of variations I would imagine, and still we could see that same moon picture. And the chance to see ANY of them by any human from this day forward until the end of time is so slight that it may as well not exist.
Actually just as I thought about it, there would really be infinite images that could still be recognized as that single planet image. (ok, I know not technically, but might as well be). And add to that the infinite amount of subjects, and still it is impossible to see anything but static, its pretty unthinkable.
Its actually easier just to try to comprehend of every possible arrangement of the pixels than it is to think of them as actual images.
I wonder if the library of babel has driven anyone insane yet haha.
