Unfortunately, di Giovanni and Borges were unable to get the translation rights to many of Borges’ own stories because Ficciones and Labyrinths had already been published. So no di Giovanni/Borges versions exist of some of the stories from Artifices. The Irby translations are also incomplete, but are excellent: https://libraryofbabel.info/borges/labyrinths.pdf – otherwise, I’m afraid you are stuck with Kerrigan’s edition of Ficciones or with Hurley’s version of the collected Fictions. Kerrigan is generally more accurate but loses some of the magic of Borges’ prose. Hurley tends to make less forgivable mistakes, but can sometimes capture the feel of Borges’ language.

Just to say thanks. The Giovanni translations are the best, surely.I’ve always preferred them to the others.Didn’t Borges himself say that they were better than the originals? It’s the kind of thing he would say, anyway.
