I am very sorry, but I do not believe in this.
When I upload a picture in order to search for it, the program probably just does a copy/paste of it, then puts it in a randomly selected numbered place and presents it to me like it just found it there.
    ???
This would explain why it is practically impossible to find any picture by just browsing the “infinite” collection.
It is probably the same with words/texts, or similar. They are not there unles you write them in the browser.
All the long pages of combinations of those words, of course, that is math, no problem, I can understand that.
I wish someone could find a way to explain all this to me so I could understand and believe – but in a simple language please.
    Best regards to all,
    Valerija

So first, how do you upload pictures in the library(probably misunderstood you on this) but in answer to your question, I agree that it seems that this is fake, I dealt the same way. And I’m not sure how Jonathan(the guy who made this) did it, you can probably email him and ask. But it involves a complicated algorithm. Might help if you got to a YouTube channel called vsauce, the go to his video on future messages then skip to around the 20 minute mark, it might explains things better, or you could just use Google. But I’m hoping there will soon be a way to type in a topic or subject and this will find that page for you so you can write any essay with a click.

I agree — it’s bullshit. Oh here’s exactly what you typed in, along with a bunch of random BS. Fascinating.

It isn’t fake. It just finds a picture that looks EXACTLY like the one you show it. Every picture ever is there.

Jahed, with uploading pictures I meant: when you go to “Image Archives”, then choose “Image search” and then you are asked to “Upload Image File” from your computer or enter the url (if the picture is on the net already). So, if you want to search for an image, you have to deliver it to the program first. If you don’t do it and decide just to Browse through the Image Archives, all you see is just a neverending slideshow of small dots 🙂

what is the algorithm for this??

Theres no way this is real, the computing power to generate and search through even just the text content would be insane.

Tom, the point (if I understand correctly) is that the pages have not been generated already.
The algorithm exists to generated them.
When you browse the hexes or look for phrases, the pages are generated and shown.
But every page “exists” and is unique, in the sense that the algorithm for generating it can only yield THAT sequence that we see when we find it.

It is real, it’s just proceduraly generated. Kinda like how if you enter a seed for a Minecraft level on one computer, it will yield the exact same level on another computer. It’s all in there in the algorithm.

Like mathias said, it’s all in the algorithm. To search for a page, it doesn’t search every book for the text, it runs it through the algorithm to get the location. If you were to save the location of a photo you searched for in the library, you would find that location would always give you that same photo.

What I noticed is that when I search, I have a hard time reproducing the same page. If I search for “hello there” and write down the name of the “book” and page number, and then use the book and page number to search, I don’t find the phrase “hello there” on the page at all.

When I look in the exact same place it is always there. Are you sure you are copying the full location as I only copied part of it when I first started using it. you have to click on the text in the upper left corner to get full location. It will probably say something like this in the upper left corner
    tst6oy5pkwkn1
    17f97sqagblbr
    xo5anfwrui3a8
    …-w1-s4-v04
click on this and then it will have a small text box with the location though make sure to double click so it copies all that is in the box, it should be a large amount of text when you paste it. then put down the wall number, shelf, volume # and page #. You should be able to find what you looked up before.’
Example of how long the location name should be:
    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

Could this algorithm or/and website work offline? As I see it, it would be the easiest way to proof that the algorithm is doing this and the information is not uploaded to the pages. It is probably the reason why many users are asking the source code of this page.

Offline use would be handy if you want to show this to a friend e.g. or a nice prank if they just dont get it.

I find there is an very easy way to prove that the site is real. If the library is the same for all of us, thus making it real, then it should be no problem for me to communicate with you using the library. but if it where to be fake, this wouldnt be possible because then the program would always generate a bunch of text around the sentence you type in, never making the same page twice.

in example, here is the hex name for a chamber, on the 1 wall, 2 shelf, 5 book, page 8, at the end of the 20 sentence, is a “proff” that the algorithm is consistent.

    hex name:
