is it searching all x^xxxx books and finding that exact thing you are searching? has everything that has ever been written or will ever be written accessible by this search? no matter what I type, it finds it. might as well kill myself now.

    Hey Daniel,

It doesn’t read through all the possibilities – I’ve done my best to explain how it works here: https://libraryofbabel.info/theory4.html

How does it come up with all of the results so quickly, faster than google, I’ve tested?

Well, the algorithms are quite different. Google does a look up in a hash table, as I understand it, while this site is computing the location of books based on the text which is input.

I can’t really say if the algorithm I’m using is particularly unusual or efficient since I don’t have enough experience in programming to compare it to others. All I can say is that I was as surprised as you when I first ran it.
