the hadeda ibis holds                                                           
so much wisdom about                                                            
the meaning of god.                                                             
                                                                                
they have been playing with it                                                  
all week, the ones                                                              
who live with me in this forest,                                                
flying awkwardly from tree                                                      
to lichen covered tree                                                          
telling jokes about that time                                                   
i took their form to teach                                                      
the written truth                                                               
and got it all wrong.                                                           
                                                                                
here i am, again,                                                               
totally in love                                                                 
and yet longing,                                                                
longing,                                                                        
desperately longing                                                             
to give up this message,                                                        
surrender it totally to you                                                     
and be set once more alight,                                                    
flying boundless and free
