i remember water
being the first being
to take the living promise,
its infinite faith
coming back in endless cycles
to inform us of who we are
and that we come from,
return to, one.

i remember the vow i took
in the corner of an ancient galaxy
as our horizon rose into
the golden sun,
this hope to serve,
to stand and speak for life,
to come back after all these years
wandering in the wilderness
and help to keep
the holy fire.

i remember how i died,
late at night and the moon
watching dutifully this wide meadow,
how i was laid bare
by all that we have done,
utterly broken on a steel bench,
blown by gods breath
way beyond any time,
then brought back to tell it,
these tiny fragments of a truth,
caught in one cosmic birthcry of
unconditional love.
